India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) stands committed to the correct implementation of the GST regime, in letter and in spirit, and to that end, had been actively taking up the cause of the appointment of the common adjudicating authority under the GST procedure.

ICEA is gratified to announce that the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has appointed a Common Adjudicating Authority under GST law.

This is a long-standing request of the industry and will allow members operating in multiple jurisdictions to make their case before one common authority, considerably aiding in ease of doing business, as well as the cost of doing business.

For entities operating in numerous states in India, navigating show-cause notices issued on similar lines from different Commissionerates, the new notification will allow them to attend to issues that may creep up in a comprehensive fashion, freeing up bandwidth and resources.

ICEA particularly acknowledges the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman for leading the charge for ease of doing business with respect to procedures related to the Ministry of Finance. Further, ICEA sincerely thanks the CBIC for taking this up expeditiously, and particularly, Member (GST), DP Nagendra Kumar.

“Such Ease of Doing Business actions, based on consultation with the industry, will help India realise its dream of becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing and exports – reaching a $US300 billion mark by 2026. Further, this is a decisive step for comprehensive and participative adjudication and compliance”, stated Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA.
