Data analysis can be used in India for financial inclusion and preventing loan defaults:

Patrick McSharry is a visiting professor at Carnegie Mellon University Africa and co-author of Big Data Revolution, a book that consider “data as the new oil” and discusses how companies can use data as intellectual property. Vijay Pratap Singh Aditya of Ekgaon Technologies spoke with McSharry for SME Futures on what approach can be adapted for developing quantitative techniques for data science, decision-making and risk management. In Part I of the interview, McSharry spoke about the need to have an ethical approach in collecting and analysing people’s data by corporates in the light of Facebook-Cambridge Analytica controversy.
