The Government of Gujarat has launched the IT/ITeS Policy 2022-27, aiming to position the state as a leading hub for IT infrastructure in India. With a focus on fostering innovation in emerging technologies and developing a skilled workforce, the policy aims to generate over 100,000 job opportunities and increase IT/ITeS exports to approximately Rs 25,000 crore in the next five years.
Gujarat is already home to more than 5,000 ICT companies, ranging from small to large enterprises, primarily located in cities like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Surat. The state has witnessed an impressive annual growth of 14 per cent in IT/ITeS exports. In the fiscal year 2021-22, Gujarat achieved software exports of around Rs 5000 crores through Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) registered units.
Aligned with the vision of PM Modi for a developed India by 2047, the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 has played a pivotal role in promoting the state’s IT/ITeS sector. Through a series of international and national roadshows, along with delegation visits, the summit engaged with key global and national IT/ITeS companies.
Discussions during these interactions focused on Gujarat’s vision for the IT/ITeS sector and the abundant opportunities within the state. Notable international companies from France, Japan, Australia, the USA, and Italy, as well as leading Indian firms, expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities. These companies are looking to develop or expand Global Data Center businesses, extend support to startups, provide digital technology solutions, form strategic partnerships, and collaborate with Contract Research Organisations and Academia within Gujarat for developing IT-related infrastructure.
Among the companies involved in these discussions are Thompson Computing and Partex NV from France, Trendmicro from Japan, INQ Innovation Global from Australia, and several US-based companies, including Beacon, Orgenetics, Precision Plastics Packaging Co, Bitscape, Inkovation, Ogoing, Careniva Inc, Corent Technology Inc, Techie-Patient Xpress, Insight Examination Services Inc, ATGC Group Inc, Rubrik, and Mexedia Net+ from Italy. Follow-up discussions are underway to establish additional large-scale projects in Gujarat.
